Sacramento-Based Full-Service Dental Laboratory Retains Core Technical Team and Facility While Elevating Quality Control Systems

SACRAMENTO, Calif., September 15, 2026 — Polaris Dental Lab, a full-service dental laboratory that has served Greater Sacramento clinicians for more than 32 years, has been acquired by Polaris Dental Technologies, Inc. Under the leadership of President Jonathan Wu, the laboratory retains its entire core technical team, its name, and its El Camino Avenue facility. The sale closed in July 2026. Terms were not disclosed. For referring dentists, day-to-day operations are unchanged: the same technicians, the same submission process, and complimentary pickup and delivery all remain in place.

The acquisition pairs the laboratory's heritage of precision craftsmanship with a renewed focus on quality control. Wu, whose background is in enterprise software and process engineering, is applying that discipline directly to laboratory operations — sharpening marginal fit accuracy, refining contact precision, and reducing chairside adjustments so restorations fit right the first time. Polaris Dental Lab continues to fabricate a complete portfolio of fixed and removable prosthetics in-house, supporting both traditional physical impressions and modern digital intraoral workflows.

"A successful dental laboratory relies on technical skill, precise repeatability, and clear communication," said Jonathan Wu, President of Polaris Dental Technologies, Inc. dba Polaris Dental Lab. "By pairing our technicians' hands-on artistry with the structured quality control and process systems I've built throughout my enterprise career, our single-minded focus is to make sure every restoration fits right the first time. We are honoring the heritage of this lab by ensuring our clinician partners experience predictable turnarounds and minimal chairside adjustments."

Sacramento Business Brokers represented the business owner, and founder Luke Middendorf, CBB, managed the sale.

"A dental laboratory runs on its relationships, with the employees, the dentists who send the work, and the suppliers," said Middendorf. "This business needed a successor who could take those over and keep building them. Jonathan was clearly that person early on. He asked as many questions about the staff and the clients as he did about the numbers."

About the Dental Laboratory Industry

Dental laboratories produce the crowns, bridges, dentures, and implant restorations that dentists place. According to Precedence Research, the United States market was valued at $10.39 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $17.92 billion by 2034, a compound annual growth rate of 5.6%. This growth is driven by an aging population, rising demand for implant and aesthetic restorations, and the shift to digital design and fabrication.

The industry remains highly fragmented. Most laboratories are small, owner-operated shops built over decades on relationships with a few dozen dental practices. Many are led by founders who have run them for thirty years or more. A growing market served largely by businesses approaching a succession decision is drawing interest from individual buyers, established laboratories, and dental service organizations.
